Introduction

Excessive worry – everyone of us seeks food, and clothing but we can spend too much time thinking about these things. These are dangerous sins. V22,25,26 the Lord says do not worry. This whole section is to His disciples. It’s dangerous because you are not trusting God. When you worry about these things you are trusting in something else.

Worrying about most fundamental needs should not consume us. It must not dominate our life and our heart. It cannot become an idol.

When we worry we aren’t accepting God’s Word. We are not living the tranquil peace filled life God intends for us. We are not focusing on what really matters in life. We are not recognizing God is sovereign. We are acting just like the world. We are not seeking and dwelling the things of God.

V32 – We are His children and He cares for us. He loves us He does not want us to worry.

1 – Consider the meaning of life

V22 – life is more than food and clothing. V15 life isn’t in the abundance of things. We need to consider the meaning of life.
“for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans‬ ‭14‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

If He can provide you with eternal life can He not provide these other things.

2 – Consider the birds

V24 – Birds are valuable to God, how much more valuable are you? Psalm 147:9 – ravens is mentioned. 1 Kings 17:4,6 – the ravens brought him bread and meat. He can provide through birds. Work is not the problem worry is the problem. That worry is indicative to not trusting God.
When you see a bird remember the Lord loves you and will provide for you.

3 does anxiety add to your life? V25

The great danger of worry is we think everything depends on us. Man gets caught up in worrying about the things of the world that he forgets that God is sovereign. It’s worthless to worry. A cubit is about 18″ – Psalm 39. It’s absurd that you think you can add length to your life by worrying. God determines when you are born and when you die. Isaiah 46:10, Acts 17:26. God determines where you live and how long you will live. It is absurd to be anxious for that which you cannot control. If you can’t control the day of your death then why worry?

4 – Consider the flowers v27

Jesus says Solomon never clothed himself such as the flowers. 1 Kings 10:21 silver became of no value because of the abundance of gold.

When we look at flowers or hear birds remember our Lord who provides all things. Here He is talking to us. To His children whom He loves. Trust in Him. Don’t have little faith. Be stronger in your faith. Stop looking to yourself, your strength, your wisdom. Look to the lilly to the birds consider you do not control the day of your death. Consider the meaning of life which is life in Christ.

Luke 12:27 (NKJV) “Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

1 Kings 10:21 (NKJV) All King Solomon’s drinking vessels [were] gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon [were] pure gold. Not [one was] silver, for this was accounted as nothing in the days of Solomon.

Luke 12:31-34 (NKJV) 31 “But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. 32 “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 “Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. 34 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
