Matthew 27:55-28:1-20 — HC Q45 – 1 Corinthians 15:1-34

1. There have always been those who deny the resurrection. Many professing Christians deny the resurrection even some ministers of the Word. You must believe in the literal historical reality that Christ literally rose from the dead. The whole Christian life depends on the reality that He is risen. The Word of God is at stake if this is untrue. Psalm 16, Psalm 49:15, Isa 53 “see His posterity” meaning He will rise. John 2:19-21, John 10.
2. All the eye witnesses are liars if Jesus didn’t rise. V5- 6.
3. If He is not risen then your salvation is at stake. V17 . If Christ is still dead our faith is dead. You’re dead. Paul rejects a faith contrary to logic and reason. Our faith is dependent on the fact that Christ rose from the dead.
The tomb is empty and He has risen!

1 Corinthians 15:5-6 (NKJV) 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.

“Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.”

“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”
