Revealed to Babes by Jesus

Christ alone is our salvation.

1 – the rejoicing of Jesus. V17. Satans kingdom is falling through the preaching of the Gospel. In V20 Jesus focuses them on a higher rejoicing. V21 a rejoicing of Jesus – this is the only time in scripture where is says Jesus rejoiced. This should be important to us. This is a different rejoice than the previous verses. agalliaō – to exult, rejoice exceedingly, be exceeding glad. This word is often tied to the fulfillment of Gods plan.

2 – rejoices in the sovereignty of God. V21. He does what seems good to Him. He reveals it to some and not others. This is a mystery but Jesus rejoices in it. Salvation is all of God so He calls Him Lord of heaven and earth. Literally the statement is “your good pleasure” – Gods choice and it’s never wrong. It doesn’t mean we can understand it. Be satisfied that God does it, and it is good.

3 – Hiding and revealing. V21 – we must never think that some are more deserving than others. We are all sinners, and we are all accountable to God. We are by nature children of wrath. Children are entirely dependent. They are completely needy. All things that men boast in are removed.

4 – The inclusivity and exclusivity of Jesus Christ. V22. There is no other way to God the Father than through Jesus Christ. No other way. Only by revelation and Jesus revealing Him.

Luke 10:21 (NKJV) In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from [the] wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.

Luke 10:22 (NKJV) “All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and [the one] to whom the Son wills to reveal [Him.]”

1 Corinthians 1:19-21 (NKJV) 19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” 20 Where [is] the wise? Where [is] the scribe? Where [is] the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
