Introduction

Deuteronomy 5:29 (NKJV) ‘Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

Hebrews 8:10 (NKJV) “For this [is] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

The true Israel of God are those in Christ Jesus. The orthodox Jews to this day still consider Deuteronomy 6 the most important part of their worship. He is the supreme God. A call to faith. Romans 4:16, Gal 3:16 – All believers in Christ are of Abraham. Mark 12:32

Love is what God reveals in His law. Love is defined by God and a response to that revelation from the Lord. Love is found in faith in Him. John 15:10 (NKJV) “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

Romans 4:8 (NKJV) Blessed [is the] man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin.”

Love Him in everything we have especially our inner being. We must pass on the law and the Gospel to our children (v7). Begin early and keep at it.

(V8) – frequent reading, and frequent study. Bind it on your heart.

Ephesians 6:1-3 (NKJV) 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”

Deuteronomy 6:1-9 (NKJV) 1 “Now this [is] the commandment, [and these are] the statutes and judgments which the LORD your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe [them] in the land which you are crossing over to possess, 2 “that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. 3 “Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe [it,] that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you–‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’ 4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD [is] one! 5 “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 “You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
