Introduction
God delivers and that God came to save sinners does not mean He will save all. Only those who are grafted in.
Hebrews 11 without faith it is impossible to please God. Romans 10:9 saved through believing. Acceptable faith, true faith and only this can give us comfort.
There are different kinds of faith. Justifying faith.
1 Historical faith –
It is expressive of the idea that this faith accepts the truth of the scripture as one accepts history.
James 2:19 (NKJV) You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe–and tremble!
This is a faith of demons. It’s an intellectual faith.
John 5:39-40 (NKJV) 39 “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 “But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
2 – Temporary Faith –
Is an ascent to the doctrines of the church and Jesus Christ for a time but doesn’t last. It may come with a genuine appearance of joy.
“Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” Luke 8:12-15 NKJV
3 – Miraculous faith or faith in miracles or faith in the supernatural
Matthew 7:22 (NKJV) “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
Judas Iscariot performed miracles yet he was the son of destruction.
True faith will have knowledge.
Romans 10:14 (NKJV) How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
We need wholehearted trust in Christ His works that God has granted to me forgiveness of sins, eternal righteousness, and salvation.
