Introduction

Wisdom for life. “My Son” – wonderful wise council to raise our children in godly living. By trusting the Lord we are trusting in His Word.

1 – We need to frequent His Word. V1

Do not ignore Gods Word / command. If we neglect His Word we will wither.

Hosea 4:6 (NKJV) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

Psalm 119:16 (NKJV) I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.

You will have a satisfied life V2

Proverbs 10:17, 27; Eph 6:1-2; Deut 5:16

2 – Follow His Word V3

Mercy and Truth applying Gods Word to our life. Living His law. Bind them in your neck. Bury the Word in your heart. Love and truth adorns you like a beautiful necklace.

A favored life (v4) – even those who don’t believe appreciate love, kindness, integrity.

3 — Faith in His Word (v5)

Proverbs 16:20 – Acknowledging the Lord in everything. It is a great challenge to NOT lean on your own understanding. We need to lean on HIS Word and NOT on our own understanding.

When we trust Him He will direct (straighten) our paths. He will guide our life. Psalm 18:30, 107:20, 119:25, 105:8, 119:41,

Lean on it. Lean on Him.

4 – Fear His Word v7

Man judges by what he can see. Our perceptions, experiences, and feelings. Hebrews 11:1
Fear the Lord. He deserves our utmost attention. It is much more dangerous to disregard the Word of God. Mat 10:28,

Psalm 56:4 (NKJV) In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?

Fear the Lord and depart from evil. When we don’t we do evil and follow satan.

An empowered life when we follow the Lord and His Word (v8)
Grace is found in its fullness in Christ.

Proverbs 3:1-8 (NKJV) 1 My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; 2 For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, 4 [And] so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.
